For travellers from the United Kingdom
An Australian golf holiday from the UK deserves time to enjoy the journey as well as the scorecard. LGST creates private Australian golf itineraries that bring together requested courses, premium accommodation, transport and experiences for accompanying non-golfers, with the arrangements set out in a tailored proposal.
Choose your season before choosing your route
Australia’s seasons run in the opposite order to the UK: summer is December to February, autumn March to May, winter June to August and spring September to November. Conditions vary by region, so a single weather description cannot cover Sydney, Melbourne, Tasmania and King Island.
Decide whether your priority is a particular travel window, a set of courses or a relaxed touring pace. Then consider those priorities together. Sunshine, wind and rain can all influence a golf day; no travel window guarantees perfect playing weather.
Tourism Australia’s seasons guide is a useful starting point for planning around your UK calendar.
Count nights on the ground, not just annual-leave days
For a long-haul holiday, separate the outbound and homeward journey from the days available in Australia. Allow time to settle in before a priority round and avoid treating every transfer day as a full sightseeing or golf day.
Our Australian golf holidays page shows illustrative 14-day and 21-day routes. Two or three weeks can provide a useful framework for a multi-region holiday, depending on your interests and pace. If your leave is shorter, concentrating on Melbourne and Tasmania, or one Tasmania region, can be more comfortable than trying to include everything.
Discuss arrival and departure cities together
A route that finishes in a different city from where it starts may reduce backtracking, but it must suit the available flights and requested golf. Compare the full itinerary before booking separate components: the order of cities, domestic connections, luggage requirements and nights in each location all matter.
Ask for a proposal that distinguishes golf rounds, scenic experiences, transfers and free time. King Island should be treated as a separate stage requiring suitable flight arrangements, rather than an automatic add-on to a mainland or Tasmania hotel stay.
Prepare for Sandbelt visitor requirements
Royal Melbourne and Kingston Heath have their own visitor eligibility and availability rules. Check the official Royal Melbourne and Kingston Heath information, and tell us your home club and handicap when you enquire.
A letter of introduction or current membership identification may be required. Requested rounds remain subject to club approval and availability; an itinerary should not be treated as guaranteeing access. Flexible dates give the planning process more options.
Give non-golfers a place in the itinerary
For couples and mixed groups, agree how much of the holiday you want to share. Melbourne and Sydney can provide a different rhythm from a coastal golf stay, while Tasmania offers scenic touring and food, wine and whisky experiences to discuss alongside the golf.
Browse our Tasmania golf packages to see how different trip lengths work. LGST’s own transport fleet operates in Tasmania; national arrangements draw on the relevant external suppliers. Your written proposal should make each service and responsibility clear.
Make the quotation easy to compare
Include GBP when describing a budget in pounds, and confirm the currency used in the actual quotation. Review the total inclusions and exclusions, room configuration, non-golfer arrangements and booking conditions, rather than comparing headline figures alone. Flights and golf-bag allowances should be checked for each operating service.
Check Australian entry requirements for your passport before travel. Golf shoes and equipment should be clean and dry, with soil and plant material removed; follow the current Australian biosecurity instructions.
Questions UK travellers often ask
Can we combine city stays with Tasmania and King Island?
Yes, a tailored proposal can consider those regions together. The final route depends on your dates, requested golf, flight arrangements and availability.
Can we include a rest day between rounds?
Yes. Tell us your preferred pace, including recovery time, sightseeing and days without golf, before the itinerary is developed.
Are private-club rounds automatically included?
No. Course names describe requested experiences. Eligibility, availability and club approval must be confirmed before a round is treated as an inclusion.
