Australian golf planning · For travellers and travel advisors
A luxury Australian golf holiday can bring together Melbourne’s Sandbelt, Sydney’s coastline, Tasmania’s links and the wild beauty of King Island. The best journey gives each destination enough time and connects the golf with places to stay, practical travel days and experiences for everyone in your party.
At Luxury Golf & Scenic Tours Tasmania, we create private Australian golf itineraries around your interests. Our roots are in Tasmania, where we operate our own touring and transfer service; our wider Australian planning brings together the suppliers and arrangements needed for a complete journey.
If you are planning your own trip, explore our luxury Australian golf tours and tailor-made holiday packages. If you are arranging a client itinerary, our Australian golf travel trade service explains how to start a proposal with LGST.

Start with the route, then build your Australian golf itinerary
Choose the experiences that matter most before adding destinations. A trip that includes Sydney, Melbourne, Barnbougle, Hobart and King Island involves several separate travel stages. Every extra hotel move or flight takes time away from the places you came to enjoy.
For a first conversation, consider a two-week journey connecting Melbourne, northern Tasmania and King Island, or a three-week route that also includes Sydney and southern Tasmania. These are planning examples, with the final duration determined by your priorities, club availability and flight connections.
Our 14-day and 21-day Australian golf itinerary examples show how the days might fit together. Use them as a starting point, then decide where you would prefer more golf, more sightseeing or a slower pace.
Choose dates around the destinations
There is no single ideal month for every Australian golf trip. Melbourne has warmer summers and cooler winters, with changeable weather across the seasons. Daylight, club calendars, course maintenance, accommodation demand and island flight connections all affect the practical plan.
Share a preferred travel window and how flexible you can be. We can then assess the destinations together, allowing time for arrival, rest days and the conditions expected along your route. Pack for the forecast at each destination, including wind and changing coastal conditions.
Melbourne Sandbelt golf holidays: Royal Melbourne and Kingston Heath
Melbourne’s Sandbelt is a compelling starting point for an Australian golf holiday. Royal Melbourne and Kingston Heath are often central to a visitor’s course wish list, while the city gives travelling companions plenty of options for dining, galleries and time away from golf.
Private-club golf needs early consideration. Royal Melbourne welcomes eligible international and interstate visitors who are members of a golf club, subject to its verification process and availability. Kingston Heath also requires recognised golf club membership, with membership identification or a letter of introduction from the home club.
Visitor playing windows are limited and can change. Plan the order of your Melbourne days around the tee times the clubs can approve, and keep suitable alternatives in mind. A named course in a proposed route does not confirm access.
Give Melbourne room in the itinerary
Several nights in one Melbourne hotel can work better than moving accommodation between rounds. Build the schedule around the confirmed course, realistic transfer time and the pace your group prefers. Leave room for a city evening, a shared lunch or a privately arranged wine-region excursion.
Tell us which courses are essential requests and where you would welcome alternatives. That distinction helps us prepare a practical private Australian golf holiday with options you can compare.
Sydney golf holidays: NSW Golf Club and harbour experiences
New South Wales Golf Club at La Perouse offers a coastal setting that can form part of a Sydney golf itinerary. The surrounding city brings another dimension to the journey: harbour experiences, waterfront dining and sightseeing that can be enjoyed by golfers and non-playing partners together.
NSW Golf Club publishes limited unaccompanied guest access on weekdays for visitors who live outside New South Wales. Weekend access requires a member invitation. Share your requested playing dates, club membership and handicap information where relevant; we check the current visitor process and availability before confirming a requested round.
Balance the playing day with the city stay
Your preferred hotel should suit both the golf transport and the experiences you want beyond the course. Think about arrival time, the journey to La Perouse and whether your party would enjoy a city base, a quieter stay or extra time before continuing to Melbourne.
For a longer Australian itinerary, a few unhurried Sydney days can provide an enjoyable introduction before the Sandbelt and Tasmanian links. A harbour evening or a shared sightseeing day gives the whole group time together between rounds.
Connect Tasmania and King Island with the mainland golf journey
Tasmania brings a different rhythm to the trip. Barnbougle Dunes, Lost Farm and Bougle Run can anchor the northern part of your itinerary, with food, wine and time in Launceston adding interest between playing days. A longer stay can also include Hobart-area golf and southern Tasmania.
We operate our own touring and transfer service in Tasmania, so passenger numbers, golf bags, luggage and pickup arrangements are considered together. Explore our Tasmanian golf courses guide and private Barnbougle transfers for more local planning detail.
King Island can be an extension to your Australian golf vacation, with requested rounds at Cape Wickham Links and Ocean Dunes. Its flight connections deserve particular attention. The best route depends on the timetable for your dates and may involve Melbourne; do not assume every mainland or Tasmanian destination has a suitable direct flight.
Our established Barnbougle and King Island golf itinerary gives another starting point for the Tasmanian part of a wider journey.
Bring accommodation, flights and golf transfers into one plan
A premium golf holiday depends on the arrangements around the round. Hotel location, room configuration, flight arrival times, golf-bag allowances and transfer capacity all affect the experience.
- Accommodation: explain your preferred standard, rooming, number of rooms and whether city hotels, golf accommodation or island stays appeal.
- Flights: consider domestic connections alongside the international journey. Allow for check-in, luggage collection and the conditions attached to golf equipment.
- Transfers: include the number of golfers, non-golfers, bags and suitcases so appropriate transport can be arranged.
- Playing days: avoid assuming that an arrival or departure day can also accommodate a requested round.
- The proposal: check which services are included, which supplier delivers them, who books and tickets flights, and the applicable booking conditions.
LGST coordinates the journey around these details. Our written proposal defines the agreed arrangements and gives you a clear basis for deciding how to proceed.
Make the golf holiday work for non-playing partners
Plan for the whole group from the beginning. Some guests may prefer a relaxed hotel morning, while others want a privately arranged sightseeing, food or wine experience during the playing day. Shared dinners, harbour time and rest days can bring everyone back together.
Tell us about mobility, interests, the preferred pace and how much separate touring your party would like. We can then shape experiences around the golf programme, rather than trying to add a non-golfer itinerary after every day has been allocated.
What to include in your Australian golf holiday enquiry
A useful first brief does not need to be a finished itinerary. Start with the decisions that will shape the route:
- Your country of residence, preferred travel dates and flexibility.
- The number of golfers and non-golfers, with approximate duration.
- Must-request courses and destinations, plus acceptable alternatives.
- Golf club membership and handicap details where relevant to visitor eligibility.
- Accommodation style, rooming and the experiences your party enjoys.
- An indicative budget, stated per person or for the whole group, with the currency.
- Any international flights already booked and the arrangements you would like coordinated.
Every luxury Australian golf package is individually quoted. The price depends on the route, dates, group, courses, stays, transport and experiences selected. Your proposal sets out inclusions, exclusions and the conditions for the arrangements offered.

For travel agents: choosing an Australian golf travel partner
International travel agents, luxury travel advisors and golf tour operators need a proposal that fits the client and makes the arrangements clear. Start with the source market, group profile, preferred route, accommodation expectations, budget and planning stage.
Ask your Australian golf travel partner how requested rounds are assessed, which suppliers deliver each service, what happens around domestic flight connections and how non-playing guests are included. Agree the proposal format, client communication, commercial arrangement and booking responsibilities before proceeding.
LGST welcomes trade enquiries for bespoke Australian golf journeys. We operate our own touring and transfer service in Tasmania and coordinate suppliers for the wider route. Trade pricing or commission is discussed for the individual proposal, with agreed terms documented before a booking proceeds.
